How The World Travels

The holidays are upon us and many people take this time to head out of town. Whether you’re lounging on the beach, visiting family or traveling for work, staying healthy and active when traveling can be a challenge.

We explored anonymized data from hundreds of thousands of members of the UP community to find out how the world travels, and patterns in travel behavior.

Making Step Counting Smarter

While step counting has been a core feature of the wearable category since the launch of UP, it’s one of the features our team believes can continue to improve over time. While it is quite easy to implement a basic step counter, building a step counter that accommodates the rich experience of life is an exciting challenge.

At Jawbone, we’ve been able to improve step counting accuracy through over-the-air band updates. For example, in July, we were able to improve step counting for low weight steppers (individuals weighing less than 120lbs) through firmware update 1.1, and more improvements are on the way. In the interest of transparency, we’d like to provide some insight into the work we’re doing to further improve step counting over time.

Introducing New Heart Rate And Sleep Features For UP

Today we’re excited to introduce new features to our UP activity trackers which significantly enhance the experience of tracking sleep and activity, and expand insights into your individual heart health.

At Jawbone, our products are update ready. Through over-the-air band updates we can add features that make our products even better over time. We deliver these updates seamlessly to your device, as we have done in the past with previous products.

Today, existing UP2, UP3 and UP4 users will receive the option to opt into a free firmware update via their UP App. This update is available on both iOS and Android versions 4.7 or later, and adds a number of great new features.
