Introducing New Heart Rate And Sleep Features For UP

Today we’re excited to introduce new features to our UP activity trackers which significantly enhance the experience of tracking sleep and activity, and expand insights into your individual heart health.

At Jawbone, our products are update ready. Through over-the-air band updates we can add features that make our products even better over time. We deliver these updates seamlessly to your device, as we have done in the past with previous products.

Today, existing UP2, UP3 and UP4 users will receive the option to opt into a free firmware update via their UP App. This update is available on both iOS and Android versions 4.7 or later, and adds a number of great new features.

Heart Health: What Really Makes Your Heart Healthy?

Over the course of your life, your heart has the ability to beat over 3 billion times, making it the hardest-working muscle in your body. Each one of those beats involves the coordination of a complex system of muscles, veins and arteries in charge of oxygenating your entire body.

So, how do you make sure that this important organ is healthy and happy? A simple way to gain insight into your heart health is by tracking your resting heart rate, or the rate at which your heart beats when you’re not active (like early in the morning, before you’re up and about). A lower resting heart rate usually indicates that the heart is being more efficient, requiring fewer beats per minute to pump the same amount of blood.

Since joining Jawbone in 2013, I have been on a mission to help people meet their weight goals and be more informed about food and nutrition so that they can make healthy and balanced choices. We have made great strides with features like the Food Score, which helps our community quickly assess the healthiness of the item on a scale of 1 to 10. Similarly, we have added partners to the UP ecosystem that make it easier to log food while providing actionable guidance.
