Helping You Eat Better With UP® + Yummly

Since joining Jawbone in 2013, I have been on a mission to help people meet their weight goals and be more informed about food and nutrition so that they can make healthy and balanced choices. We have made great strides with features like the Food Score, which helps our community quickly assess the healthiness of the item on a scale of 1 to 10. Similarly, we have added partners to the UP ecosystem that make it easier to log food while providing actionable guidance.

As we look at the progress being made within the UP community, we know that the biggest difference between people who did and did not lose weight was the number of meals logged per week: people with major weight loss logged 75% more meals per week than those who did not lose weight. At the same time, we know that many of our users have tried logging food but they don’t stick with it because it can be difficult so it is critical that we continue to find ways to simplify this process.

Today, we’re excited to announce our partnership with Yummly, the leading food discovery platform. Yummly provides unique and advanced search filters, allowing you to find the perfect recipe from a selection of over one million. Search by holiday, cuisine, taste, diet, nutrition, allergy, cook time, technique, and more,to find the recipe perfectly aligned with your tastes and goals.

Much like how our UP users strive to improve their health and habits, members of the Yummly community are looking for inspiration and ideas to eat better. Yummly empowers users to instantly add any recipe from around the web with one bookmarklet click to Yummly. They also work closely with thousands of food bloggers and smaller recipe sites to get their unique, tried and tested recipes in front of Yummly’s 15 million monthly users. Starting today, millions of members of the UP and Yummly communities will be able to see the UP Food Score on every Yummly recipe, and, with one click, easily log meals from Yummly.com directly to the UP App.

As we embarked on this partnership, we realized that the UP community had a lot in common with the Yummly community. For example, a previous Jawbone blog post highlighted that our community tends to make the healthiest choices early in the week. and progressively lose willpower as the week goes on. Quinoa and kale rule earlier in the week, butare too often replaced by ice cream and alcohol as the week progresses. It turns out that the Yummly community exhibits similar behavior, searching for quinoa and kale recipes earlier in the week and alcohol later in the week.

To celebrate the launch of our partnership, we’ve picked out a few of the most popular recipes on Yummly for kale, quinoa, and, (since you likely know your favorite cocktail recipe by heart), the most popular smoothie recipe for the morning after. Try the new feature out by logging them into their your UP account with the click of a button. Once a meal is logged from Yummly, you can adjust the day and time that you actually consume the meal. Simply go into the UP App, or your meal logs on Jawbone.com to adjust.
