Updater troubleshooting

This article applies to BIG JAMBOX, JAMBOX, ERA, ICON HD and ICON.

General Troubleshooting:

Step 1: Ensure that you're signed in to MyTALK. If you do not already have a MyTALK account, click the 'Request Access' green button on mytalk.jawbone.com and follow the on-screen instructions.

Step 2: Ensure that you have administrator privileges.

 

Specific Error Messages:

Error message: "Sorry we're unable to update local DNS information, and therefore can't complete installation of Jawbone Updater..." For help, please contact us here.

 


Setting up administrator privileges:

You may encounter a problem downloading or installing the Jawbone Updater if you do not have administrator rights in Windows.  Some companies restrict installation rights. In these cases, you must work directly with your company's IT department.  For others, the below tips may help.

Windows XP:

1. Log on to your computers as an administrator. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

2. Click the name of the account you want to change.

3. Click the Change the account type.

4. Click Computer administrator, and then click Change Account Type.



Windows Vista or Windows 7:

1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

2. Click the User Accounts, and then click Change account type.

3. Select the account, click the Properties button, then select the Group Membership tab, then select Administrator, then click OK.
